I will run a 1200 point 15mm Open Tournament, with one
Round Friday night and 3 rounds on Saturday. Each
round will be 3 hours long, with a modifed deployment
area (A larger rear zone).
If Todd does this, I'll be happy to stand aside on the Fast Warrior. The
bigger issue is that, Todd, if we do both Warrior and Flames of War that weekend
you can't do 4 rounds and we'll have to work to make three rounds fit as they
are longer than Fast Warrior rounds.
Let's keep talking - nothing is decided yet.

As it stands right now Jon was planning to run a Roman
Themed Fast Warrior Tournament to Support Imperial
Warrior.
Having chatted with him on the subject, he would more
than willing to set that aside if we had a larger
group of out of towners attend, ecspecially if someone
else is running it. So, that being said:

I know some players would like to have it in 25mm, but
truthfully, Scott and Jon can only lend out so much
lead, and while most of the KC players (including
myself, have some 15mm lead, I know I don't have 1600
points (yet), but i Do have 1200 points of LIR ready
to be abused...
However, if you can afford or are able to bring a 25mm
Fast Warrior Army, We can get a few after hours games
in, maybe on Sunday for those leaving later in the
Day.
I am not sure where it is being held yet. It will
either be at The Overland Park Convention Center in
Olathe, or at the Best Western in KC. However, I will
be more than willing to get a room at whatever hotel
is supporting the Con for the weekend and gladly share
it with any out of towner in order to help defray
costs and make it easier for them to attend(except
Scott Holder...I've heard to many stories dude ),
and I am pretty sure Jon and a couple of other locals
are willing to do the same.
Warrior Tournaments in KC are hands down the best
supported in terms of prizes given out. Guarenteed.
What that means is that if you show up and
participate, you will walk away with a prize.
So, I know 6 months isn't a year, but from what I can
tell, May suits alot of guys requirments for being
able to attend a con, ecspecially some of the out of
towners, and this should be enough notice. Who knows,
Call to Arms could be the tournament everyone West of
the Mississippi is looking for to get together?
Please mail me off list with any questions or concerns
you have. I appreciate any feedback you all have,

As far as I'm concerned, I have a guest bedroom, a full sized air matress, and
two couches at the house for any who wish to attend. Greg Regets and Don Coon
have first dibs since they have both been gracious enough to allow me to stay at
their Excellent homes. Other amenities such as topless bars are optional based
on the individual's tastes. . . Oh yeah, and guests from Texas are always
welcome when they bring Shiner Bock! lol!

or without Demetrius!

me off list and if I have it, you can borrow it.

interested. Or, if you're coming in from out of town, let us know if you're
going to bring a 25mm FW army and I'll see if I can come up with an historical
opponent for it.

Oh, one more thing. If anybody comes in from out of town, we can try to arrange
it so that you can share a room with one of the locals who also usually books a
room at the convention. Like me for example. That way, you get to cut half off
the price of a room--I mean I'll be booking no matter what.
And if we do themed FW, I'm all over that as well.

But wait, one more thing. If you fly in, we'll try to arrange pickup and drop
off at the airport. Just let us know in advance and we can coordinate
something.

Scott and all,
Hey Call To Arms sounds good in May to me.
One question, What is CTA? Is it a Con or just a Warrior Tourney?
I think it's a Con, but I'm not sure.
I think one reason some of the past events have had poor attends just might
a lack of promotion of the Con itself by us.
I mean, what else is there to do? Everyone know what H-Con has to offer.
What about the other Cons?
If the Warrior Tourney is a one day event, what other events are held on
Fri. and Sunday? What could my lovely wife Robyn do while I'm playing
Warrior?
Just a thought,
David

Call to Arms is HMGS-HOA's spring "convention". It's about the size of 2003's
TwisterCon, fwiw.
You can always get the national schedule of HMGS "conventions" by going to
www.hmgs.org and it'll also have links to all the other chapters.
Remember, what Todd is proposing isn't a one day event, it's a start Friday
evening event and run all day Saturday.
As for the spousal unit, well, she'd be in KC, there's plenty of touristy things
in KC to do and it's an easy city to drive around in. I'll defer to the KC
residents to point you to good web sites that recount that kinda stuff.

Actually Joan may come too. She has an Uncle in Overland Park.
See you tonight for game day ... g

Dave,
Call to Arms is listed as part of the Heart of America
at http://www.hahmgs.org.
Last year it was at the Overland Park Convention
center, which is South of Kansas City proper. I am
waiting a reply to see where it is in 2004.

Dave,
Kansas City has many attractions, one of which is the Plaza. The last I
heard, Shopping has not gone out as a past time for most ladies! Additionally
there is Crown Center where you can shop and ice skate in the open. You also
need to visit the Liberty Memorial which was recently refurbished. This Memorial
is for the "Great War" (WWI) and was officially consecrated by the Big 4 Allied
Commanders of WWI. They have a display of a WWI trench and all of it's
ammenities along with all sorts of weapons including memorabilia and numerous
French 75mm guns as well as other small arms. I haven't been to it since it has
been redone but I've heard that it is quite cool! Also we have some folks who
can take you on a tour of several Civil war battles fought here in the area. The
battle of Westport had a total of 50,000 men fighting it out in Kansas City, MO
with General Shelby making a bloody last stand in what is now a graveyard to
allow the Rebs to make good their retreat. And you call
us Yankees. . . We've also got the Jesse James home not far away from here -->
You've probably heard of him, he rode with Bloody Bill Anderson who fought under
a Black Flag for the Confederacy here in Missouri. We even still celebrate Cole
Younger days up here. Yankees indeed! There are all sorts of interesting
entertainment here and we even have hot and cold running water (they tell me
they just got that last year in Leavenworth!). Also, don't forget about that
little incident that happened in Lawerence, KS where it was burned to the ground
by some good ole Missouri Border Ruffians in response to Jayhawker raids on
Missourians! lol! Oh and don't forget about Leavenworth, KS. That spooky old
fort has ghosts among other things like the buriel of German SS troops who were
executed there and the Eisenhower Library (military books!) in addition to more
stuff Jon could tell you about!
Anyway, there are numerous things to do up here and we even have stuff for
women folk!
