Jon,

Sorry to ask again but we have some differing views on the purchase
of an ally contingent and the purchase of the Ally general in
Campaign Warrior.

1. Firstly, is a low point army one that falls beneath the cost of
the AG element?

Example: An AG costs 94 points for one list, if the contingent is
currently at 93 AP, is this when it is considered a low point army?

The contention that we have is over what constitutes a low point
army. Some contend this happens when it falls below the minimum
points for the army list of the mercs you are buying. My contention
is that this happens when the AP falls below the cost of the AG
as in the above question and secondly, after the AG is bought, troop
AP is bought from the minimums only until they are met as the second
step in converting AP to battle troops.

2. Am I correct in assuming that since you must purchase an ally
general, the only time you don't is when your merc AP falls below
the cost of the AG element as in the above (1 a) example.

Obviously this is important as it adds cost to the taking of merc AP.
If you don't have to purchase an Ally general when you purchase less
than the minimums on an army list, it makes the cost of buying mercs
much cheaper.

Example: Someone purchases Italian Condotta AP. The list minimums
are a CinC and 4 elements of knights. If you don't have to purchase
the Ally General per Campaign Warrior rules, you could purchase up
to 3 elements of knights without ever fielding the AG if the ruling
is that low point armies are ones that fall below troop minimums. My
contention is that there should be three steps:

a. Purchase AG first.
b. Purchase minimum troops second (after AG purchase is met).
c. Purchase non-minimum troops as desired (after steps a and b above)

If one is allowed to do otherwise, it make buying very small
contingents possible, although an FC still would have to move them.
I know that with Warrior army lists, it is rare that you can get
allied contingents without an AG. Isn't this your intention with
Campaign Warrior?

Of course we will abide by whatever ruling is correct. My concerns
are only stated so that the negatives are brought forth.

Sorry for the long explanation but I wanted to make sure that I
covered most/all of the angles.

Thanks!
