Greg!! Yes!! Please do. Anyone can post something Warrior or ancients related
here. Play aids get special treatment. If they are all correct, we redo them
with your name and our copyright symbol with the 'permission is granted
to...etc' caveat so they can be known to be official by judges and such.
I have these to do on my list, but if you get to them first, you'll get the
credit.

When you guys wrote the rules, you did a great job defining various events in
the game by making lists, such as who can interpenetrate, who is disordered and
when, who must rally, who may counter, etc...
As a playing aid for all our new players in this area, I started making large
print 8.5x11 charts of these things (basically everything that is not on the
factor chart) so that they may be printed and put on a large cork board to
displayed while playing. I even brought together all the terrain effects and
listed them by terrain feature. These are color charts and might be helpful to
newer players, or guys like me that keep forgetting their rules when playing at
someone elses home.
Would you have any objection to these being posted on the group site when I'm
finished, so that other people can make cork boards for themselves if they want?

Palisades and abatis are terrain. Once placed that's where they are and
anyone can 'use' them, if that is what you mean by 'use'.
If you mean by 'use' which troops can forced march in contact with a forward
zone palisade in order for it to be permitted to be there, if there are troops
we don't feel should be doing this due to history, we will say so in the list.
I am not aware of any DAW list that permits this but has a troop type on the
list that should not be allowed to forced march in contact with a points-bought
temporary fortification.
Boats can be bought for any troops in a list that can have them. If there are
lists out there in the future where the list can have boats but there is no
historical precedent for
certain troops in that list being equipped with boats, we will say so in the
list. I am not aware that this is an issue in any BW or DAW list.

This idea has merit. I've tried to do something along
these lines for myself, but the end product was too
cumbersome. I've settle on highlighting often used
lines on my play aid.
As an additional note on play aids: I attempted to
create an excell matrix of combat outcomes for troop
types in my current army. I found it almost
impossible. What I was trying to do was set up a
matrix where troop type X would fight (per element)
enemy a,b,c,y,z types at what factors. Again the end
result is a complex running theory of irreletivity.
Does anyone have something like this that works? The
end result, I believe, should look like the Napoleon's
battles sheets of combat values. Concept: take
calculations, for possible combat values, factor
everything but dice, set on spreadsheet. Example:
IrrgC LMI J/sh have a finite number of combat
abilities and these can be factored for charging,
charging impetouos, standing to receive, shaken,
tired, uneasy, disordered, followup, etc.

I cannot currently manipulate a PDF so if there are corrections you will have to
make them. And I can't bless them as official unless our name and yours is on
them.
That is not to say they can't be used by folks as much as they want, so post
away.

I hope they are accurate as I am taking them word for word out of the rules. :-)
I'm making them on a MAC, so will have to send PDF's. It looks like it will be
16, 8.5x11 pages and these fits well on a 3ft. by 4ft. cork board, that you can
buy for under $30.
I really don't need any credit or anything like that. Anything that helps new
players and brings more of them to the game will be fine by me. I should be done
in a week or two.

How about making them small as well; "personal sized" to go with the
existing two pages of charts?
