I am going to disagree with your use of the term "always". In 7th,
you just needed an enemy within 240 paces to make a counter. The rules
said nothing about having an enemy within charge reach.
However, if by "always" you were referring strictly to the Warrior
re-write, I will bow to your knowledge as the Rules Horse. Obviously, we
have been playing it wrong, as we have been using the old 7th rule. I
need to re-read Warrior and try to forget all the "7th"isms...

Chris,

You do realize this discussion only pertains to bodies under retreat orders?
For non retreting bodies, there is still a wad of things to counter from.

Yes, Chris I read it. Don gave you the answer - that bullet is in a list
under retreat orders. It is not the requirement for counters under normal
conditions.

You never retreat anyway - so don't worry about it. :-)
