As Chris earlier pointed out, many of us use two 6x4 tables placed together
and just the the middle 5 feet. Another option is to use folding tables.
They are sold in various sizes, one of which is 2 1/2 by 8 feet. Two of
these does the trick. And you can buy cloth in 5 foot (and wider) bolts in
the US. You just have to go fabric stores to get it. For a convention, the
folding tables could be rented.

You don't have Ping Pong tables in England?




Well yes there is the odd ping pong table in the country, although much
scarcer these days than they were. I have never seen one used for
wargaming.

The 8x4 board is a standard board you can buy for about £10 ( about 7
dollars?) from your local builders or timber merchant. Most wargamers i
know in the
UK have these covered with cloth.

Incidentally cloth comes 52 inches wide, which is just enough to cover the
board and edges, at 8x5 this would not be possible.

Thinking ahead, if a tournament was to be run again in the UK there is no
way enough ping pong tables could be mustered.

Maybe those that played 7th in the Worlds at Derby can remember what size
boards were used. I was there but thought they were either 6x4 or 8x4
depending
on scale.
