In the Warrior Play Aid Files section of the group, I have loaded a
Powerpoint and .pdf version. The File is called "Deployment Maps and
Rules."

It is not meant to be an authoritative tutorial, but is an example of
how I draw and use my maps when playing a game. We have had many newer
players here who have been...uncertain in how to use them, and I thought
this would be an easy way to show them how.

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks,
Todd S.

Jon B,

A while back, we used blinds in the center of the table to keep this sort
of thing from happening. It cut down on record keeping. I always wondered why
their use went away.

Todd, one addition for your excellent document. Shouldn't the distance from
the table edge be noted for each unit not just the ones on either end of
your line?

Also if not setting something on the centerline then the distance from edge
and centerline should also be noted.

Jon C, I've seen different folks play force marchers/ambushers etc
differently. Shouldn't the exact location of each force marched unit/body
be noted on the map in exact distance/measurement? And in effect (outside
of scouting impacts) never be moved during deployment? I know some times
I've played folks that will jockey their force marched units around leading
me to believe they've not marked exact locations. And god forbid that I
place one of my force marchers in a spot that later thru deployment ends up
being a bad place, but I just have to live with it, correct?

Indeed it should.

That would be quite illegal.

Indeed. The relevant passage from the rules is below:

"Location of forced marching troops is included in the army’s deployment
orders (4.21). The location of forced marchers must be carefully listed as to
distance from edge of terrain features, facing and formation."

*** Interesting never seen this done ever in Warrior or TOG. So what is the
relevance of the die roll - ie 5 or 6 - rear or forward zones. How does this
work?

Mark, you are confusing flank and forced marches. The die roll is for flank
marches, the issue we were discussing is forced marches.
