That is something I do not subscribe to. And Warrior is very different
than 7th in the light battle for an important reason. Lights matter to
demoralization levels. I would be(and have been) perfectly happy to win
just by killing only the other guy's lights - depending on the point
structure. Quite often I see a guy with tons of lights thinking he will
use them to control the game because he feels he can delay with them long
enough to win somewhere else. That's what I thought in that game with Dave
and others before it where I used to play with a lot of light troops. Over
time I have worked out ways to kill lights and take advantage of his evades
without having to engage in a 'light war'.

Learning to kill light troops for me is the most important lesson and
possibly the hardest to be learned for the tournament gamer. I agree that
this can be efficiently achieved on a regular basis only through the use of
both light troops and non-light troops. This can be anything from Loose
order foot, loose order cav, camels, elephants etc. Each of these requires
a slightly different approach.
Controlling (read utter destruction of) an opponents light troops is often
the only points required for a 3 or 4 point victory. If you have controlled
an opponents light troops very effectively, then this opens the possibility
of demoralising a command or forcing tests on other targets and scoring a
5.
