Hi Todd,
I have been writing lists for this army too. Here is my 1500 point list as
we don't play 1600. This is from memory so please excuse the brief
notation and lack of costing. I am unsure if there were 5 or 6 units of
the foot. Might be useful for you to compare. My approach is somewhat
different to yours.
I dislike HI as I believe the cost outweighs the benefit. I take bigger
units of the archers to reduce the possibility of being shot for 2. I also
take an element of Cs so that the units can charge if required. I only
take half SH to save points.
I take Tibetans for the imp charge without the general. These are EHC as I
dislike SHC too. With this army you should be able to outshoot nearly
everyone so SHC is not really needed.
I only take small units of Reg LC instead of the bigger units of Irreg LC.
This again is preference. In this army I don't think the irregs will be as
useful. These units are there to steal done distance on march moves and
work on flanks. They can be supported by either the LMI, MI or (E)HC.
The LI is only there to pin units and force march so I don't think you
need too many. You do not want them to get in the way of the REAL archer
units. I prefer B.
The LMI are similar and useful for terrain and to support flanks. Your
units look better than mine.
I haven't taken ART either as it is not my style.
My list is:
CinC + HC
Sub + HC
2 x 2 HC
2 x 2 Reg C LC, B
3 x 2 Reg D LI, B
6 x 8 Reg D (1xC) MI LTS,B half Sh
2 x 4 Reg C LMI B
2 x 2 Tibetan EHC
Scouting 12+12+3=27.
Hope it is useful!

With the release of Oriental Warrior, one of the lists I have been
playing attention to and fiddling around with is Later Tang Dynasty.
There are two reasons for this: The troop combinations are pretty good,
with enough variety to construct several different types of lists that
cater to a players style, and because of the Oriental Warrior Lists, it
is the one that is most similar to the list I play now, Araucanians.
Well, Koryo Koreans come very close as well IMO. In fact, from my POV,
both lists are Araucanians with Mounted troops. Currently I prefer the
Tang list, but that could change in the future.
Anyways…Here’s a list I’ve been looking at for awhile.
CinC 2E ½ Reg A; ½ Reg B, ½ EHC, ½ HC L, B, Sh @ 201
SubGeneral 2E ½ Reg A; ½ Reg B, ½ EHC, ½ HC L, B, Sh @ 131
Provincial Cavalry 2E Reg B HC L, B, Sh @ 100
Provincial Cavalry 2E Reg B HC L, B, Sh @ 100
Steppe Merc. Skirmishers 4E Irr C LC JLS, B, Sh @81
Steppe Merc. Skirmishers 2E Irr C LC JLS, B, Sh @81
Steppe Merc. Skirmishers 2E Irr C LC JLS, B, Sh @81
Jian’er Spearmen 6E Reg D, 1/3 HI, 2/3 MI LTS, B, Sh@122
Jian’er Spearmen 6E Reg D, 1/3 HI, 2/3 MI LTS, B, Sh@122
Jian’er Spearmen 6E Reg D, 1/3 HI, 2/3 MI LTS, B, Sh@122
Jian’er Swordsmen 6E Reg C 1/3^rd LHI, 2/3^rd LMI 1HCW, B, Sh @ 146
Jian’er Swordsmen 6E Reg C 1/3^rd LHI, 2/3^rd LMI 1HCW, B, Sh @ 146
Jian’er Skirmishers 4E Reg C LI CB @ 34
Jian’er Skirmishers 4E Reg C LI CB @ 34
Jian’er Skirmishers 2E Reg C LI CB @ 22
Jian’er Skirmishers 2E Reg C LI CB @ 22
Jian’er Skirmishers 2E Reg C LI CB @ 22
30 Mina Stonethrower 2E Reg C 4 Crew Artillery
Total 1601 Points
Total Scouting Points 37
This list is all about splitting fire, and PROBE, using it's own bowfire
to disorder enemy bodies so as to get the unpromted charge off. The
upgrades of some element to HI/LHI help the survive Shieldless shooting
a bit better, and hand to hand in most cases as well.
Comments, questions, math errors??
