I think the tournament Roman Army you're going to see
used more often than not (ecspecially by those players
who have a better command of the game) is Marian
Romans, with a Numdian Ally General.

I agree with this one. I believe Marian to be a much stronger list than
EIR. I have recently purchased a Marian army.

I think it is stronger list as there is a great balance between the
legions and the supporting cast. Peltasts and elephants and a variety of
light troops are all available and ART and Reg HC, JLS, SH is not
compulsory. Not sure about the Numidians. I probably wouldn't take these.
