I tried to find the rule that would act as a contradiction to this as we have
always played that troops who charge and can fight in HTH cannot shoot, but I
could not find any such rule. The rules are very detailed but offer no 30K
fly over. They say that troops armed w/lance fight with it when charging
counter charging etc. They also say that a second rank w/ bow can shoot in
support when charging, but neither offer a disqualifer if the other applies.
I feel pretty certain that your intent is that troops who charge and take
part in HTH cannot also shoot in support, but this appears to have been
overlooked.

7.6, maybe not Warrior: all relevant (pretty much) rules for this are in
the 'shooting combined with h-t-h combat' para. As Scott noted earlier,
'ranks which fought earlier in the same combat cannot shoot' - so the L, B
can shoot while charging, but not afterward. Note also that the use of
'ranks' in this phrase is the rules feature which permits pinning of large
missile-armed units, *especially* JLS, B types.

I agree with you Chris, and tried hard to find the rule disallowing it.
Jon has answered that Patrick is correct. Seems a bit skewed to me.

If you charge, you can shoot with B from a rear rank, even if you fight that
bound (8.81). That is "my intent."
The restriction about not shooting if you fight is NOT for chargers.
