Jon,
I was at the same tournament as Greg. I think it is "intuitively obvious to
the most casual observer" what the shoulder of a unit is, but that is a term
used throughout the military and I think it was easily applied as you were
trying to describe the dimensions of a unit. I appreciate Greg's point and
as you and the other FHM are hoping to write these rules just once, I second
his request to apply all of your paragraphs to the KISS rule. I implore you
to spend the space and ink to give very detailed descriptions of all you are
describing in the rules. Often if we apply any rule to the most absurd
situation it will bear out where the Rules Lawyers will take the game. Use
less passive voice and more absolutes, ie no half elements are allowed (that
is not written anywhere in the rules and yet I'm pretty sure is designed to
be the case).
Just my 2 pennies,
Chris
