Didn't the Seleucid cataphracts break a Legion at Magnesia? (Bar-Kochva has
a very plausible theory as to why some commentators played this one down!). >>

Very good. One earlier post had asked the question when did Ancient cav
beat infantry frontally, as heavy lancers tend to do pretty much at will in
Barkerian rules of all stripes. My inital thought was - well, that's
rtidiculous, there was... uh.... uh... and couldnt think of a single
instance. i could think of only a few when they tried, like the Goths at
Taginae.
So i brought it up at our club, and we drew a blank, except that the
particularly knowledgeable Phil Jarvio pulled out the Seleucid left wing at
Magnesia. I'm not aware of that one, (given the result of Magnesia, i wasn't
aware the Seleucids had any success) but apparently it was so.
Good call.
