It's been good to see that large number of the new Warrior lists are
including the previously overlooked "irr E" troops and as a cross-
over player it's great to see that provisions have been made to
permit troops based as DBM Hordes to be used as such.

But do they have use?

In DBM Hordes are a great economic way of pushing your command's
break point up. (they cost between .5 and two points per element) I
suppose in Warrior they could serve a similiar purpose in causing a
command to have to loose more units before going into retreat
orders. However in this game the cost of "irr E" units (recall they
have to be formed into units with a 25 point command factor) seem to
be greater than their possible game effect. They also are almost
always armed with the less than useless IPW.

So I ask again, "Do they have a use?". Do you use them? How do you
do so?

Martin

I do, Martin, and plan to do more with them. As bad as they are, they force the
other player to use a non-light troop to deal with them. When they break, they
do not make your units take a waver test, but the pursuing enemy is now
vulnerable to counter attack. They can take a terrain feature out of the battle
or be used to prevent enemy LC from attacking your camp while they contribute to
your demoralization total.

If they have B as a weapon - even better. Just remember E's do not fire
overhead...

Jon

I use "E" troops religiously, pun intended, in the First Crusader
army. I love them. As Jon noted, with bow they even have a chance
of causing some damage. If force marched in a single line, they will
hold up and entire enemy army long enough for you to manuver your
strike forces to advantage. I actaully look for them in lists ;)
