Hi Todd,

Thanks, bags with lotsa spearmen might be the ticket. In addition to meeting
FHE list requirements, I'd kinda like to make sure I had units to represent
all twelve tribes. I'll check out those websites.

John,

Checking into the Hebrew 15mm situation - I noticed that Jeff Zorn
jrz3@... had an army of them pictured in Ed's Miniature Gallery
http://tetrad.stanford.edu/WebJPEGs/MiniaturesGallery.html
He's a friendly guy and could be of help for you.

Old Glory 15's, while they don't specifically have Hebrews they have many an
army in the time period and they may suffice. They are also a fair amount
cheaper than Essex, but are sold in big bags 50's for foot and 14's for cav.

Hope that helps.

On the same topic, I've checked a few manufacturers, and can't seem to locate
anyone who makes Early Hebrews in 15/25mm? Essex does have some non-descript
javelin and bowmen that might fit the bill. I ordered the Osprey on Early
Armies in the Middle East just to take a gander at these guys. Of course I
guess I could spend an evening taking notes with Charleston Heston and Moses
too!

Howdy,

If by "Early" Hebrews you mean something from the Iron I = Conquest/Judges
stories just use whatever you can find for Canaanite peasant foot leavened
with your basic bedouin/Midianite figures. Israelites of this era likely
looked most like a continuation of the Canaanite farmers of the previous
few centuries. Falcon UK makes an Ark of the Covenant set, but the ark is
missing the Cherubim that should be on top.

No one yet makes a real Israelite figure for the Iron II period, which I
always find very odd since images do exist. I even sent Chariot pics they
could use, but to no avail.

Hope that helps.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the ideas. Actually ordered figures today. Seems like it would
be fun to play Hebrews.

A friend of mine says Ancient Hebrews are the ultimate "Soft Pillow" Army.
This is a Tactic where you overwhelm the enemy with hordes of cheap light
troops to suck up his best charges. Perhaps arm them with slings to make
knights go "Ouch". I think you rally the fleeing Light Infantry when they
reach the rear zone and keep sending them forward. Then when he's tired or
bored hit back with your Irr A JLS troops ( I think Hebrews get tons of
these right?). Just a theory and somehow I doubt it works. Not my style
anyway.

Have fun

Allan
