Greg,
Don't listen to Ewan! He's never won a championship on
this side of the pond without me and I consistently finish
higher than he does in the NICT! <<grin>> (Disregard the
fact that he has CRUSHED me every game that we have played
against each other...)
You made an excellent point when you commented about
how your opponents impact your playing style. Ewan and I
have often laughed over how each thinks the other organizes
a Seleucid Army completely incorrectly. I run NASAMW list
early period Seleucids with minimal pike and elephant and
maximum HC L. However, that is mostly due to the fact that
my major opponent was Larry Essick with those (^%#^%^^
Carthaginians. Celtiberians rout pike and gauls rout
elephants, but both die miserably standing to receive
lancers. Seems like a no brainer to me!
I think that Comnenian Byzantines were a decent army
under 7.5 but they definately get a boost with warrior.

Historicon 2001? You mean the first Warrior NICT?

Having opinions from Ewan has been very helpful. The fact that we don't
agree on some small things is actually a good thing. I don't even have the
army painted yet and have already learned a lot!
I have a 25mm Cartaginian and several 25mm Roman players to compete with in
this area, so my lists reflect this. Having said this, Ewan has talked me
out of several things I was planning on doing and talked me into several
more, all with very well thought out arguments.
All the guys in this area are grateful for the help the NASAMW players and
Umpire have given us. You can expect to see us in force at Historicon 2001,
complete with our freshly painted 25mm armies. Be nice now, almost none of
us has ever played with 25mm before, :-)
