John,

Have you seen this file in the files section: ExpBase.jpg
described as Expando Base? Greg Regets posted this last year I
believe. An elegant solution to having both close and loose order
foot. Another one of our inactive local gamers has his Prussian foot
on his Teutonic Knights list done this way. Very well done and no
need to favor one type of troop over another. You have to look very
close to tell they are done this way when properly flocked.

favour with me - I just hope I fall into competency with them. I've
never really tried much with LCh, correct me if I'm wrong, but as
lights there is still a lot they just can't touch. As far as
modifying figures, right now I am looking at changing bases (ugh)
for some of the HI to LHI. I am mostly concerned about having to
change back.

there is no evidence of 2h chariots, but we have conflicting
evidence of use for a scouting role vice shock role. The list is
split in three time periods and there are less and less of them as
the period progress because they went out of favor over time.

Thanks Chris,

I'll check it out. I was looking to change from close order to loose order
before June.

I've wrestled with the problem of swapping Celts between Warrior and DBM
using the same kind of idea. The best I could come up was to make a
magnetic element base, and base each celt individually. In DBM with
non-fast warband that are based 4 to a base, you stick four single figure
bases onto the elemet base. In Warrior with irregular loose order, you
stick 3 single figure bases and one 'blank base' (textured without a figure)
to the element base. Making these bases is a simple matter of some plastic
card, a knife, and a file. Or, they can all be bought commerically in which
case the base methodology would be to have a steel element base and
individual figure magnetic bases. To extend this from close to regular
loose, all that would be required would be to glue a plastic strip of 5mm
width to either the front or the back of the element base. As long as the
strip was the same height as the magnetic base of the close order, it would
be almost indistinguishable.
