OK, I've completed my latest contemplations on the fist crusader
list. I listened to the input here on other lists threads and
incorporated many ideas, but I also ran much of the numbers I would
normally ignore in army planning. So the list I've come up with
below is a reflection of all the above.
CNC +5 IrgA/B HK/HC L/sh 167
4x 2e IrgA/B HK/HC L/sh 352
12E IrgC HI/MI J/sh, B 185
6E IrgC HI/MI LTS/sh, CB 105
12E IrgA/D/C LMI J/sh, B, IPW 97
6E IrgC/D LI B 43
6E IrgC LHI 2HCW/J/sh 121
2x 2E RgC LC B/sh 50
2E RgC LMI CB 34
1204 points
First I know the Italian CB marines are asking for death as
shieldless LMI, but that was all I could squeeze into the points I
had left. From my latest gaming experience, I wanted the Danish
Crusaders to up armor both ranks in anticipation of being disordered
by the massive missile fire that happens around Derekon; these boys
will be hunting El, and I don't want the beasties to shoot them up
too much in prep shot. I limited the number of K units so as to take
advantage of the exotic elements in the list, but 5 guided missiles
are enough to get me into trouble anyway. The main roadblock unit
has to unfortunately be JLS instead of LTS, but I still think people
will mainly avoid the 12E mass of men; I want to get them lined up
opposite whatever the enemy has shooting on the highest table. The
LI are obviously a temporary impediment to marching and will give the
enemy 43 points by the 3 or 4th turn. I build a second smaller HI
unit in order to have some form of heavy reserve.
My big problem is the need to cut down the table enough to allow me
to have the large HI unit block the maximum while my LC dance and the
HK position themselves. If El, then Danish move forward, otherwise
they clear woods. The Pilgrims are there to send into the woods
hunting LI and IrgC LMI, or to send into the face of mass archery in
hopes of doing something useful 120p away from the rest of the army;
Fire and forget pilgrims :)
