Howdy,

The following was forwarded to me as the sum total of the information
passed out by the HMGS-E Board of Directors after their weekend meeting.

I have to say that I'm not terribly impressed:
1. We are not being told what the "test run" is (i.e are some tournaments
supposed to be run there at CW, or something else?), what the criteria will
be to judge its success or failure, and what will happen if the test shows
the Showroom to be a failure.

2. We are not told what it means that the Con Director will be working with
tournaments.

3. Troubling to me is that there is nothing here to indicate that the
Showroom is being evaluated for any other purpose than as a home for
tournaments. E.g. many alternatives were suggested such as using it for the
Flea Market, HMGS-E and event registration, sci-fi/fantasy gaming, and last
minute events. Note that their points 1-3 would be just as helpful to these
other groups as to tournaments.

4. Troubling also is that none of us has yet heard anything from the person
who started all this, Bob Giglio. Many people asked for a simple
declaration from him saying that HE fully supports tournament gaming and
will do nothing to harm it. He's letting the BoD speak for him so that no
one can ever pin him down personally. Kind of sad that the BoD has missed
this ploy. Sigh.

If you know anyone who's an HMGS-E member who'd like to serve on their BoD
so we tournament players have a real voice there please let me (or Scott
Holder) know. Elections are this year!

In the meantime I'm going to be sending the board another email on this
topic. I hope that others who don't want to be stuck in the Showroom will
also drop them a line. Look for me at Fall In! I will be circulating a
petition on this issue.
