Greetings all!,
This is my first post to the group so forgive me being verbose. Texans
here (and I recognize at least one name on the members list) will recall me
as
a regular face at our 7th ed. tournies back in the mid-late 90's. However
when my only local 7th ed. partner (Daren Piper...some may recall him) left
the area
I lost track of the 7th ed. community. Since then I have been getting my
"Ancients"
fix by playing "Warhammer Ancients"....yes, yes I know. However it allows
me
to play in my favorite scale (25mm) and it's a hell of alot cleaner written
than
DBx.
Which of course brings me to "Warrior". I was quite excited a few weeks ago
when I was informed of this project at a Gaming Con in Austin. However I
have a
few questions:
1>What is the prospective "Warrior" community like in Texas...I live in the
Waco area
but have no problem travelling to other areas of the state for tournies, or
even friendly games.
2>Does it apear that shock infantry armies will be viable again? I'm
itching to
pull out my Galatains or New Book Two "Later Muromachi Japanese" again.
3>How will "Warrior" be marketed, and were will I be able to get a copy when
it's printed?
4>What lists will be used under this system. I assume that the old 6th ed.
lists
as well as the three 7th ed. books are recognized, as well as the NASAMW
conversions.
But how about the "Newbury" lists or the "Book of Hosts"? I'm not
attempting to
gain an unfair advantage, but my Medieval French are built using
"Newbury"....the main
difference btween it and the NASAMW list is a provision to allow crossbowmen
to be bought
as LI. This gives them some chance to counter enemy lights.
Well, I'm briming over with excitement and have many other questions..but
they will wait for another
time.
Well met once again to everyone.
Martin

I'm gonna answer the questions I can answer and snip the rest.
2>Does it apear that shock infantry armies will be viable again? I'm
itching to
pull out my Galatains or New Book Two "Later Muromachi Japanese" again.
>I don't expect Galatians to be any "better" now than before--they're simply too
one dimensional an army to be that effective in an open tourney environment.
And I have Galatians in 25mm--need to remount em as Gauls:) :)
3>How will "Warrior" be marketed, and were will I be able to get a copy when
it's printed?
>Thru Silver Eagle (Jake Kovel). Jake?
4>What lists will be used under this system. I assume that the old 6th ed.
lists
as well as the three 7th ed. books are recognized, as well as the NASAMW
conversions.
>Until they are superceded by new lists. The Biblical lists will be the first
ones replaced--publication of that army list booklet is imminent. Dark Age
lists are next. That army list booklet is in second draft as we speak. Lemme
ammend what I just said, what army lists that are allowed and not allowed are
entirely up to the tournament organizer. But, in any tourney I run, if new
lists are out, they will replace the applicable old ones. I will post
appropriate "what replaces what" on my web site and will post that info here
when the time comes.
>Any tourney I run hasn't allowed Newbury lists in at least five years. Sorry.
Book of Hosts lists will be allowed until replaced by our ists. Again, if
somebody in the great country of Texas wants to allow Newbury or old 6th edition
lists, that's their bidness. But at Cold Wars, Historicon, and Fall In, it'll
be new lists and any old lists that haven't been replaced yet.

Martin,
I am sure that Dave Beeson et al. will be contacting you shortly. With the
recent deployment of Harlan the San Antonio group have become the defacto Texas
coordinators. Up here in Dallas we have a thriving group of about 8 or 9 guys.
You can bet that at least two of them are playing on any given weekend. 25mm is
our preferred scale aswell, although everyone up here has at least 1 15mm army
and some many more. Point being you don't need to bring your own lead if you
come up for a friendly game. We haven't had a 25mm tournament in Texas as yet.
It seems noone south of us, and there are about 15 players between SA, Houston
and Corpus, have other than 15's. Dave and Regets are painting 25's but have
been doing so since Historicon 91,without a showing yet, so we just wink at them
and tell them that we can't wait. Grinning from ear to ear imagining how Greg
is going to respond to that,Ha Ha.
We often play multi-player games up here in Dallas, so just give a yell and I am
pretty sure we can put you in touch with whoever is playing.
I think that you will find that the game hasn't changed too much, some troop
capabilities have been altered and LI is no longer completely dispensable with
the new requirements for command morale status. The rules are far more
intelligibly written than was the case of "Barkerese" and that has been perhaps
the most appreciated alteration.
I am sure you will fall right back into the groove once you start playing again.
Welcome Back, Chris

Hi,
The DFW area has about 10 gamers and the San Antonio has some as well.
Unfortunately most people prefer 15's, however we have a group that prefer 25's
and plays it every weekend.
Tourney's have suffered recently due to our main tourney organizer and head
NASAMW rep being called to active duty. We are waiting to see when San Antonio
will run the next tourney.
Anyhow, sign up for the NASAMW_SW egroup if you can, there is not that many
emails sent until around tourney time.
Through that we'll keep in touch. If you can or will be in the DFW area, let us
know when. We play nearly every weekend, and would love to see the Galatians
come across the board.

We have 9 in DFW area. 2 of us play ALL the time, and 1 more of the 9 plays
heavily. 2 live in one house and play as often as they can (1 very
experienced, 1 new player). 1 is on military duty right now and does not
play obviously. 1 emails us, but we have never met, although he has lead
and good experience. 1 plays fairly sparadically, but has been in the game
for years, and 1 is a new player whose schedule prohibits him from playing
more.
