That "big man from California" would have been Joe Barrosso. Joe was a
phenomenal talent in WRG from (I believe) 2nd edition up to early 7th, and then
dropped out of WRG for a long time. Aztecs was his favorite army, and he claimed
to be of partially Aztec descent. I believe Joe actually passed away about five
years ago, though Lenney Hermann, Rich Gagliasso, or one of the other SF Bay
Area regulars could speak to that better than I could.

I know Lou won in one of the years.
Derek - please write it up as I did so they can include it in the informational
site on Hall of Champions. I like the records to be complete. One year it was
played in Baltimore I believe - maybe not. I was a youngin' back then - trying
to win on the open tournament circut.

Lou? May have won a tournament at Baltimore. But the NICT was you by yours
truly in 1988 and 1989. It was the first back to back wins of the NICT.
1988 - Milwaukee Wis - Bactrian Greek beats Vikings in the finals game. Game
lasted about 45 minutes. i believe it was Walt Leach running the vikings
1989 - Pennsylvania - Selucid beats Late Imperial Roman - Some British guy
that was with Wayne Dare played against me. Scott Holder did a long write up of
the game and it was publihed in Courier. vol IX no. 1
found it Keith Smith was the guys name - it was played in 15mm that year
I know nothing of the 1987 tourney. I got dead last in the NICT that year. :)

Joe Barrosso was very very overweight. He dies of a
massive coronary during a "tribal retreat". He was a
good foster parent and a good guy. However the message
is clear. If you're several hundead pounds overweight
it will catch up with you sooner rather than later.
His toy soldier colection was sold off years ago by
family members.
