Guys,

What is the name of the vender that sells prepaint figures at the

cons? He is usually setup at or near the front entrance of the dealer

hall. His figures are in white boxes and opened so you can see them.

Eric

I know that there are actually two vendors there set up next to each

other using similar boxes. All I know is that they are out of

Pennsylvania. I do know a guy (Roger Taylor) who is kind of new to

Warrior who bought an army from one of those vendors. I have his email

address and will ask him (he may be on this list, and he could respond

too).

I believe that at least one of them is Pictor Studios and their web page is

http://www.pictorsstudio.com/. I'm not sure about the other, though I

believe that they are both the same company, just two different people.

The company that I am a member of (Deep Strike - www.deep-strike.com) also

paints historicals and would be open in giving you a quote on our costs. If

you can't get to either website, in the current issue of the HMGS East

Newsletter, the cover picture is a sample of the work I do; the picture on

page 20 shows both work that I do, and work that Pictor does. The front

rank of chariots is all painted by me, the rear rank is painted by Pictor

with a bit of added detail and rebasing by me.

Hi Eric,

As was stated I guess Pictor Studios is one, probably the one that

usually has the table right where you walk in. Just a note- I bought

some 15mm Varangians from them. The paintjob is nice but the prices I

thought were kind of high (although not so bad as to stop me from

buying the figs, at least in 15mm they were affordable). I guess he

has to pay for that nice table spot somehow!

Just around the corner typically PaintedArmies.com (also, not

suprisingly, their website) also has their figures on display in

white boxes like that, and have been doing so around the HMGS-E cons

for quite a few years now. Lee and Sharyl Clapp, also of

Pennsylvania, are the proprietors. I have had Lee paint a number of

my figures. He does just as good or better at 15mm and is much less

costly. I think his prices for 25's are probably more in line with

Pictor's. While a real nice guy and very service-oriented I also

believe he has fewer hands to crank out the work so might not be as

fast although I have never had Pictor actually paint anything for me

so I can't say in comparison.

And before anyone jumps on me about buying painted figures just try

painting with my combination of eyesight, depth perception, hand-eye

co-ordination and caffeine shakes. After you have totally screwed up

a few, and I have because I keep trying anyway, you'll go buy someone

else's work too.

Is that who you were looking for?

Norm and Robbie Flam? Can't remember the name of the company, even

though I remember their names. Weird how the brain works (Or, How the

weird brain works...).
