Apologies in advance for the (probably) stupid questions.

1. What is meant by the statement on the Historicon or NASAMW site that in
the Theme tournament, Classical X rules MAY be used? What are these
X-rules? If they are the rules for hoplites and Romans and companions at
the begining of the list book, don't they apply always, whenever a
specific list so reflects? I.e., don't hoplites fight two full ranks
always for the specified armies, or just in the theme at Historicon?
Sorry, I'm confused and don't have my book handy.

2. Why are rear deployment areas 360 p. in the Open, but not the Theme?
Wouldn't it be just as important to speed up the game in either event? i'm
not complaining, I woiuld just like to understand and appear to be having
a brain freeze right now.

Thanks for the anticipated spoonfeeding.

The X rules are at the FHE website.

I see. Thank you. Thus, we are talking about one element elephants and
ekdromoi, if I am reading the site page correctly. I still wonder,
however, why the expanded rear zone in the open, but not the theme. Any
thoughts of applying this to both events?
