The + JLS and ranks fighting JLS in the draft are HOSED (and have been for
years). I did not get to them back in March, but they are getting a complete
rewrite for the final.

I was reading the rules regarding the JLS + and noticed two things that may
not be correct.
It seems that Chariot and Elephant crew armed with JLS do not keep the + on
subsequent bounds on contact. Is this correct? This implies that with the
overloaded platforms, (Indian chariots, Burmese elephants etc) that some
crew figures armed with JLS, will never get to fight with the + unless
someone hits them on the flank. A further erosion of the value of these
types of units.

The second item I noticed about JLS. "(JLS) Foot armed with JLS in a
second rank behind foot, cavalry or chariots fight at half effect against
any enemy for which a JLS + currently or initially applies. " With this
example. A unit of disordered Cavalry, front rank SHK, rear rank HK charges
a JLS armed foot unit. On the opening round the Cav counts its armor as HK
because its disordered and the infantry fights a rank and a half. Assuming
the infantry is pushed back and the HK is expanded off to the side. With
this example, the infantry now counts as facing SHK, with no JLS bonus but
still gets a rank and a half?

I have inserted the following in 9.2:

"In some situations, a JLS-armed figure may not be able to fight from a second
rank based on its being armed with JLS, but may be able to due to its other
weaponry."

Does this help?
