Standard Rhodian type slingers can be given shields, but I cannot see
how they can count shielded to recieve missile fire, they only have a
small buckler shield which is a Hand to Hand defence weapon. IM not
convinced he can use his shield and shoot in any case.
I have it on good authority that you cannot see lead shot that are
aimed at you.
This goes for Cretan archer types too, their shield is not much use
against missile fire and no use in proctecting back ranks behind them.
This also goes for Sassanid EHC, they have a small hand to hand
defensive shield no use V missiles me thinks.
I have a problem with EHC not being allowed to skirmish there are
exceptions to every rule, what class are the Saracen cavalry that
skirmished on their mares with King Richards Knights, the accounts
tell of Saracen cavalry being stuck like pin cushions by English
arrows in their backs because they wore felt padding. So in effect
they are armoured light cavalry.
Why can you not fire into a melee at short range with
bows/crossbows? If you can hunt a deer why not a man? accurate
shooting with a bow at short range is a prerequisite of a good archer
I would have thought.
