We have 2 cons we run Warrior tourneys at, Call to Arms in May and Border
Wars in October. Until lately they had been Fast Warrior, but there is now
enough experience and response that Fast Warrior just isn't going to be enough.
We'll keep it at 1200 for now and maybe even raise it later based on the
preferences of the players who attend or can in the future.

I am also working on, as a response to an idea from TAPS and Chris Campbell,
a local Army Builder tourney that culminates in a 1200 event this fall at
Border Wars.

But to get John to a Warrior event, as even San Antonio is a challenge, we
need to look at *us* going down *there* for something this year or early next.
Where John Garlic lives, KC isn't practical... He's south and west of
nowhere....lol

Hi All,

I didn't know that there used to be a 'Beach Wars' in Corpus Christi. I
think one thing Warrior needs is more events - perhaps with their own unique
flavour (idiosyncrasies). Since Corpus is only 140 miles away, I'm quite
willing
to help out in whatever ways you need. Heck, that's practically down the
street Smile BTW, once you get to 'nowhere,' you have to take a left and continue
on
till sunrise to get to my place!

Yes!! I could not agree more. Let FHE know what we can do to help.

That sounds pretty cool. I like the idea of preset terrain as well. What
time frame are you lookin' at?

Ahem, I, on the other hand, am south and east of nowhere, being only
one hour closer to civilization than Baron John of the House of
Garlic. So, we would both appreciate the visit. Will you come if I
resurrect beach wars in the summer in Corpus Christi? Oh no, did I
just suggest that? Now Dave, Greg, Tebo, and Harlan will give me no
respite. As if I don't have enough to do already....

In the old days we held it at a hotel on north beach with preset terrain.
Every table had a major water feature and dunes, with a variety of other
pieces. 1600 points. If we do it again, I'll try to think up more gimmicks
to add local flavor. We finally quit because it was just me and five guys
from San Antonio, so I figured why not forget all the trouble and planning
and just drive up there when i want to play?

While I tend to hate preset terrain, the added advantage of being
close to the beach (with all the scenery involved) is a very
attractive draw.

The Corpus tournament were always a blast, and we usually ended up
getting blasted, to boot!

Greg,

I would think that pre-set terrain would be to the KoSJ's favor when
placing their stone walls considering the new global change in placement. . .

kelly
PS How are those stalwart Eastern Orthodox footmen coming along? I would
certainly not complain if I got them before the KC event to base them up. . . :)

This brings up a good point for preset terrain type tournies. Open spaces
need to be denoted as such even with preset terrain.
