Thanks to Jon Cleaves for running a 1600 pt 15mm Warrior Tournament
last week in KC.
"Wonders never cease" the Late Imperial Roman's raised their Pila and
won one (with the assistance of allies/hired thugs)
I've been tweaking the LIR and with a great AAR'd game the other week
made some last minute changes that helped.
A combination of Roman light infantry and Hun allies provided the
necessary pieces to the puzzle. The rank and a half, JLS,B,Sh LC
dancing/charging and the light infantry slowing or pinning allowed
the legionaires, auxillia, and lancers (lance armed Hun HC and Roman
EHC) to get where they needed to be on the battlefield. A couple of
units of Auxillia Bowmen flanking some of the blocks were crucial to
the one knight matchup I had, as well as the Roman Light Infantry.
I was fortunate in the last fight against Hannibal, I was able to
fight the smaller command before the CINC led Elephant command
stormed in and caught a couple of non-countering B class EHC (the
Huns ability to skirmish allowed them to escape).
Unfortunately we had only 10 people, as some of our regular gamers
were busy. The X-rule deployment also helped speed up the games.
Thank Again Jon,
Mike
