I can't do more than 5' deep, but I can go 11-12 feet wide.
Suggestions on whether I ought to reduce deployment depth?

Doug,
I routinely play this way. Instead of using the full 240 paces
for your deployment zone have each side use 120 paces. Another
method is to actually use the table edge as the limit of your
deployment zone and just set up with the leading rank of figures.
This has the added effect of simulating a little "fog of war" since
your opponent can't really see everything (i.e., exactly how large
each unit is) at the start of the game. Of course this is all in
your basement, non-tournement type stuff.
As a devout 25mm player, All Praise to The One True Scale, I have
found that a very fun game can be had using 1200 points. This also
increases maneuver area and eliminates some of the line-em up and
crash into each other syndrome that 25mm games get criticized for.
Games, of course, also take less time and are a little more robust
than Fast Warrior. Scott or Jon can correct me if I am wrong, but I
think a long time ago tournements used to be 1200 points.

Hell Tom, it wasn't that long ago. Maybee 1987-89
era, but I remember it thusly. I liked those days,
when 25mm could actually work a flank, and 15m had
more table than they could use. Ah the olden dayz :)
