A combat involving multiple units is treated as one combat, for
consideration of who won (ratio of hand-to-hand) etc ... been that
way for quite some time.
Has anyone ever considered not including free hacks on routed units
in that equation? Something seems a fish when you get smacked on the
shieldless flank by cavalry lancers and take a ton of casualties, but
you "win" the combat because you are hacking away at routed light
infantry with one CPF left.
Thanks ... g

I assume, Greg that you are looking for other player's desires for an x-rule on
this, which is cool.
But just so everyone knows what is going on with this rule - considered
absolutely central to Warrior's combat system -
In ancient and medieval warfare (and even true today to some extent) what a
soldier perceived about his immediate surroundings was far more of a driver of
events than what was happening in the eye of the general overlooking the
battlefield. Several hundred men pursuing and hacking a defeated and routing
enemy might not even know that away to their left enemy horsemen in the first
moments of their charge had killed twenty of thirty of their comrades, let alone
care...

I'm not really looking for anything Jon ... just posting something
that seems to come up as unrealistic just about every weekend when we
play. I think most players can play/exploit just about any way combat
can be resolved.
I appreciate your point of view, but the inverse can also be the
case, that the guys in the back getting pounded in the flank, really
don't know/care all that much about a few guys in front chasing after
guys that are routed.
As I said ... I was just interested in what other players thought
about this.
Thanks ... g
