In the Neo-Assyrian list (and others probably) some of the troops are 1/2 JLS
and 1/2 B.

The text says such elements can either be combined in units that have both
weapons or they can be in separate all JLS or all B units.

If the rules don't give you those explicit options in the text, should we
assume that such troops types have to be in mixed units?

Do not make that assumption. Unless the "General Concepts" section of
each book says something or the Notes section of a list says something
or the line item for that troop says something like "1/2 each unit JLS,
Bow", then there are no restrictions since none are listed. If I find
out I've overlooked one or two along the line, we'll clarify
appropriately.

Good question.

Timing/scheduling question for Scott/Jon, please.
I'm assuming that the new Hellenistic Greek list will be coming out
in Classical Warrior, rather than Imerial Warrior. Is that correct?
Thanks.

>The answer to this and other pressing questions can be found at
www.fourhorsemenenterprises.com. Look under the "lists" section. It has the
lists broken down by booklet, FW and a master list.

>BTW, yes, that is correct:)Smile:)

In a List rule that says:
Extra to give Unit X 2HCT or LTS or JLS @ 8pts if
2HCT, @4 if LTS/JLS.....0-1/3

Does that mean each weapon is 0-1/3? Or a total of
1/3rd of the units bought can have either one of those
combinations?

Thanks,

Todd

I am thinking about converting my Middle Period Italian Condotta list to
late period when I ran across a question. I don't have the exact wording
since I am at work, but basically some of the mercenary pikemen in the
middle period can be upgraded to HI. The late period first line states that
many of the units, including the mercenaries I am interested in, are
available in late period also. My question is, would the upgrades for these
same units (the HI upgrade) be available since the units are?

Scott,

I just started reading Umberto Eco's book "Baudolino" and one of the
first characters introduced is Frederick Barbarossa. So, it got me to
look up the Fuedal German list. In the list description it says the
Italian allies represent those who fought for Barbarossa during his
Italian campaigns. Now, there are Italian crossbowmen allowed in the
early period (when Barbarossa was around), but the official Italian
allies don't show up until the late period that begins 38 years after
Frederick's death.

On line 38 it states, "Extra to replace Brigans LTS or JLS with 2HCT
@4 pts if Mi, @3 if LMI.
Does this mean HI/LHI cannot do this since the option to upgrade in
armor is above this line?

>This needs to be swapped around. HI/LHI Brigans can have 2HCT. I'll put it on
my pile of eratta to deal with once OW first draft is completed.

Thanks Scott, my Brigans thank you as well as it sure is no fun going into
battle shieldless and armorless (shieldless after the first bound ofcourse)
unless your a bonnact in Jake's army. Smile Besides," the Irish are cheap, we can
always get more, arrows cost money."

Dave Smith's list questions prompted me to re-read the Wallachian
list comments which further prompts this question. Why does the
notes section state that the Rusticci are non bow armed infantry but
the list allows B as a choice?

Hellenistic Greek list (#37) provides that up to 1/2 of each type of
thureophoroi/hoplite/pikeman may be upgraded to heavy. I assume this means
1/2 the total number of figures as to each type, i.e., one may upgrade
entire units or only some ranks within units as long as the maximum 1/2 is
not exceeded for any trrop type, right? Thus, each of my hoplite units can
be front rank HI, back rank MI, and each of my thureophoroi units can be
1/2 LHI, 1/2 LMI.

Second, are any troops denominated thureophoroi eligible for this armor
upgrade? I'm thinking here of thureophoroi whose names have adjectives,
like *Mercenary Thureophoroi* and *Cretan Mercenary Thureophoroi*. These
would appear to be thureophoroi, correct? Or not?

Thanks.
