Tim,
Well, Irr D LI B is still a "super troop" in my book, but that is
because they seem to pas 90% of their wavers for me...
OK, to answer your first and second questions. If you are looking
to "game the system" and maximize the strength of your list for
tournament purposes, you always want an odd number of units in a
command. As to "optimum" numbers of units in a command, that somehwat
depends on playing style. I tend to fight my battles with the strategy
that I am going to have a large number of "delay/hold/screen" troops and a
few "strike" troops. I look for where I want to fight the enemy and I
send my "strike" troops there, hoping that my "screen" troops last long
enough for my "strike" troops to win the battle. Obviously, this is
grossly oversimplified.
Given this playing style, you want as large a "screen" command as
possible. You have to adjust based upon your list. Obviously if you are
running 48 man LTS units as your "screen" you won't be able to afford too
many units in that command. Your "strike" command should be small, one or
three units is ideal.

Right. Back on my Imperialists as an example: most of the knight units
(under 7th) were members of 2-unit commands: the general's knight unit
and one other (generally an 8-man LI unit). With the shift to 50%
demoralisation, that would clearly be a bad idea Smile and I will probably
move to having each general other than the CinC as a one-unit command.
