Players,

Here are the rules I have compiled for the 1st Annual Midwest Team
Tournament. I looked at everyone's suggestions and tried to take as many of
the ideas into account as possible. Some, however, were exclusive of
others. I do think that these are a very workable set of rules and should
produce a good, fun, competitive tournament, which is what we all want.

A couple of points before I list the rules. There is no provision for an
individual champion. I worked on several ways to incorporate this but I
could not find a way to do it that was completely fair and did not detract
from the team tournament. And since this is a team tournament I choose to
drop the individual champion. As a bonus, this allowed for another round of
team play for everyone, which I think is greatly preferred.

The best painted, best army, and best camp awards will be decided by a panel
of master painters who are not competing in the tournament. The best
sportsman will be determined by the players and the tournament judge. As
the rules state, I am sure there will be numerous other prizes.

The cost will be $20.00 per player. This will include a Kansas City BBQ
dinner. The rest of the entry fee will go toward prizes and expenses.

Please send your team entries to me at yaw@... or just post them
on here on the warrior group. I will shortly post the exact location of the
tournament and some local motel information.

Here are the rules:

1st Annual Midwest Team Tournament

Saturday, Jan 15 & Sunday, Jan 16

1. The tournament can rotate among interested host cities, but always will
be between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi, hence Midwest. The first
one will be held in Kansas City on the weekend of MLK day.

2. The tournament is open to all teams who want to participate. Come on out
East and West coast players, the BBQ is worth the trip alone.

3. Teams will be Four players, each playing their own army. The best Three
scores will count each round. Note: a three player team could participate
and not drop scores.

4. The format will be an Open 15mm tournament played with 3.5 hour rounds,
1600 points, 1 list.

5. There will be 5 rounds of play. 3 rounds on Saturday and 2 on Sunday
morning. Sat: 1st round 10 a.m. 2nd round 2 p.m. 3rd round 7 p.m.

Sun: 4th round 10 a.m 5th round 2 p.m. Trophy & awards presentations at
5:30 p.m.

6. Armies will be matched by historical opponents and the geographic region
of the players as much as possible for the first two rounds. Individual
player points will determine matches in the last three rounds, using a Swiss
style system to match games. Players on the same team Will Not play each
other during the tournament.

7. If there is an odd number of players, we will have a stand in player who
can either join a 3 man team (with their approval) or play to fill the empty
slot.

8. Lists: All Warrior lists and other lists approved for NICT play. If
Oriental Warrior is out by then, we are only looking at the Classical lists
from other sources.

9. Scoring for the team tournament will be by total points. In the event
there is a tie, the first tie breaker will be total wins. The second tie
breaker will be total number of 5 point wins. The third tie breaker will be
total team score against common opponents (scores used).

10. Each player may place 4 terrain selections. The new 14.0 rules will be
used to place terrain. Table size will be 6' x 4'. Scott Holder's
suggestion of "open" orders will be used. Each player records his initial
orders and reveals them at the beginning of bound 3.

11. We will have a traveling team trophy for the winners.

12. Awards will be given for Best Painted, Best Army, Best Camp, Best
Sportsman, and 1st Place. Other awards can be expected.

Location of the tournament will be announced shortly. It will be in the
Greater KC area.

If you have any questions, please post or contact me.

All that and I forgot to mention that 12.0 and 14.0 from the new Warrior
Rulebook will be in effect. Copies are posted in the files section.

Greg, the consensus that I have gathered is for one list. While we have
yet to play (and I look forward to it) I hear you are very good. I look
forward to meeting you in KC. Charles

Thanks for the consideration Charles.

I'm sure the consensus was for one list, as hardly any of the South
Texas guys choose to post on this board anymore, and you of course
live in a one list area.

I will try to get a team together for this tournament.

Thanks again ... g
