Hi,
I am very interested in attending, however the late start time for last round
on Sunday may be a show stopper. Last flight I can find from KCI, leaves at
5:45. I have no idea how far that is from game site, but assuming an hour to
make sure I am not wearing exploding socks, I am guessing I would have to
depart by 4:00 p.m. Is there any chance of an earlier start on Sunday?

Not wanting to pose a problem without a solution, would 8:30 and 12:30 work
as start times on Sunday?

I've already saved itinerary on Travelocity. Just gotta resolve this, and
figure out ground issues as well as who needs a South Texan for a team member.
It gives me a reason to repair my Hebrew chariots which broke and routed when
two year old climb up and pulled tool box over ;-(

I'll be there. Is there anyone else coming from South/Central Texas
interested in forming a team? If not I am open to join a team if someone needs
a
person.

Also, Johnny, I'd be willing to play earlier to make things come out right
and I bet there are others who would too. I am only playing if we have an odd
number, but we will make it happen!

Let me start with an apology for the delay in announcing the location of this
tournament. We have been trying to secure several locations (without spending a
lot of money) and we ran in difficulty on each of them.
So, we will run the tournament at: Table Top Game and Hobbies, Lexena, KS.
There are many motels in the area, Lexena, Overland Park, or Olathe will all
work for the out of towners.
Table Top is not available for tournaments on Saturday evening, they have a
large 40K game groups that regularly meets then (after 6 pm.). Because of that
we will go with the 2 day tournament. There may be an open table or 2 at Table
Top on Saturday evening in anyone wants a pickup game of some type.
I have listed the rules, with minor revisions, below. If you have any questions
please contact me. Hopefully, this won't be to rough a beginning to what I hope
can grow into significant annual event.
If anyone wants to come without a team, let me know and I will make sure you are
on one.
Thanks for your patience on these delays and I'll look forward to seeing you in
Kansas City. Rules listed below.
Charles
1st Annual Midwest Team Tournament
Saturday, Jan 15 & Sunday, Jan 16
1. The tournament can rotate among interested host cities, but always will be
between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi, hence Midwest. The first one
will be held in Kansas City on the weekend of MLK day.
2. The tournament is open to all teams who want to participate. Come on out East
and West coast players, the BBQ is worth the trip alone.
3. Teams will be Four players, each playing their own army. The best Three
scores will count each round. Note: a three player team could participate and
not drop scores.
4. The format will be an Open 15mm tournament played with 3.5 hour rounds, 1600
points, 1 list.
5. There will be 4 rounds of play. 2 rounds on Saturday and 2 on Sunday
morning. Sat: 1st round 10 a.m. 2nd round 2 p.m.
Sun: 3rd round 10 a.m 4th round 2 p.m. Trophy & awards presentations at 5:30
p.m. on Sunday. (Note: there may be open gaming available Saturday evening.
This is dependent upon available table space.)
6. Armies will be matched by historical opponents and the geographic region of
the players as much as possible for the first round. Individual player points
will determine matches in the last three rounds, using a Swiss style system to
match games. Players on the same team Will Not play each other during the
tournament.
7. If there is an odd number of players, we will have a stand in player who can
either join a 3 man team (with their approval) or play to fill the empty slot.
8. Lists: All Warrior lists and other lists approved for NICT play. If
Oriental Warrior is out by then, we are only looking at the Classical lists from
other sources.
9. Scoring for the team tournament will be by total points. In the event there
is a tie, the first tie breaker will be total wins. The second tie breaker will
be total number of 5 point wins. The third tie breaker will be total team score
against common opponents (scores used).
10. Each player may place 4 terrain selections. The new 14.0 rules will be used
to place terrain. Table size will be 6' x 4'. Scott Holder's suggestion of
"open" orders will be used. Each player records his initial orders and reveals
them at the beginning of bound 3.
11. We will have a traveling team trophy for the winners.
12. Awards will be given for Best Painted, Best Army, Best Camp, Best
Sportsman, and 1st Place. Other awards can be expected.
We will cater BBQ for lunch on Saturday. This is TEAM tournament. There will
not be individual play.

Johnny,
Don't bother with renting a car or a hotel. If you like, I will pick you up
at the airport and deposit you in my spare bedroom. Greg Regets and Don Coon
have done this for me and I think a little Sho-Me State hospitality is in order
for an old friend, especially one from the BEST State in the Union that used to
be it's own country!

John,
I will change the Sunday times to 9 and 1. If you play until the time limit
of 4:30, you will easily be able to make a 5:45 flight. KCI is about 35
minutes from Table Top. Hope that helps. I am going to post the revised
times again on the Warrior group. Let us know if you are coming with a team
or need to be paired up.

John and all,
That Sunday start time needs to 8:30 a.m. not 9 as I earlier posted. Good
to hear you are coming.

Kelly got to you first, but of course you are always welcome with us. I
hope you can make it, it will be very good to see you again, and of course
Theresa would like to see you too, if that could be arranged.
Alex V - are you coming to this?

John,
If your flight is at 545, you'll want to be at the airport no later than
445. If theres a weather related problem, then perhaps ear;ier, but
thats something to play by ear.
The good news is from Tabletop to the Airport is a striaghtoshot up 635
to 29, and it only takes a half hour.
I'll defiantley be more than willing to work around your schedule.

KCI is very user friendly. My wife and I just flew to and from New Orleans
and we parked, rode the bus, and went through security in under 30 minutes.
That with a 5 minute bathroom stop for her . If we can avoid rental cars
for the out of town, they can be dropped off at the terminal (at KCI it is
right by the gate). I would think while of course you want an hour,
anything over 30 minutes would be unhurried.
I live near the airport as do several others, Let us know and we can help
with transportation.

Thanks for the advice. If I am true to form, I usually skirmish and maneuver
first couple rounds and then lose big, so that should help on time schedule
BTW, I haven't flown in years - can the ubiquitous little red tool box get
through security as carry on, or do I need to pack in something smaller like
Plano?
