We held the Midwest Team Tournament in KC this past Saturday and Sunday.
There were 3 full teams of 4 players each and a total of 13 players
participating. (2 players split 1 spot). We had 2 out of town players,
John Garlic from Texas and Jon Becker from Iowa.

We played to tournament over 2 days because of difficulties in procuring a
site that would allow Saturday evening play. I think I have that problem
taken care of for next year so the tournament could be 3 rounds on Saturday
and 1 round on Sunday morning. Hopefully this will make travel easier for
out-of-towners to come participate.

The format was really fun. As mentioned above, we had 4 players on each
team, with each player playing his own game and then the team taking the
best 3 results each round. This made for players checking on their
teammates games, sharing "scouting reports" and general talk about
strategies to play different opponents.

The games were very competitive. There were only 7 5 points wins and there
were 6 ties out of the 24 total games played.

Here are the results:

Best Sportsman - John Garlic - Hey, he was great to play and he came
all the way from Texas.

Best Painted - Matt Johnson - Very Nice 100 Years War English Army

Best Camp - Mike Lewis - Check out the camels shading themselves
under the palms.

Greatest Military Disaster - Chris Campell. Chris was playing a list new to
him
and he got better as the tournament
progressed.

Best Rookie - Will Muckel - Impressive performance for a very new
player.

Team Standings: 1st Place - 40 points The Spanish Inquisition
Kelly Wilkison, Steven Howell, Mike Levis
and Will Muckel

2nd Place - 32 points Quantrell's Raiders
Matt Johnson, Todd Schiender,
Paul Leuschen,
and Charles Yaw

3rd Place - 28 points The Comeback Kids
Jon, Becker, John Garlic, Chris
Campbell,
and Jon Cleaves / Mike Turner

We did not give any awards for individual places, but the individuals points
ended as follows:

Kelly Wilkinson Seleucid 14 points 3 - 0 - 1
Charles Yaw Sassanid 14 points 3 - 0 - 1
Steven Howell Medival Spanish 12 points 2 - 1 - 1
Mike Lewis Berber 12 points 2 - 1 - 1
Mike Turner /
Jon Cleaves Romans 12 points 2 - 1 - 1
Todd Schiender Araucanians 9 points 2 - 1 - 1
Jon Becker Early Polish 8 points 2 - 1 - 1
Matt Johnson HYW English 8 points 1 - 2 - 1
Will Muckel Berber 7 ponts 1 - 2 - 1
Jon Garlic Han Chinese 7 points 0 - 3 - 1
Paul Leuschen Swiss 6 points 0 - 3 - 1
Chris Campbell Medival Spanish 3 points 0 - 3 - 1

John Cleaves and Mike Turner split a spot. Jon played Marian Romans and
Mike played Late Imperial Romans.

We plan to do this again next year on the same date (Martin Luther King
weekend) Hope to see you here.

Charles
