I'd like to echo Kelly's words regarding the quality of the Warrior
product. The cross-referencing was everywhere, and certainly allowed
us to search easily through the book for answers to our questions.
That notwithstanding, Warrior has done nothing to help my dice
rolls. I'm sure Jon could smell those all the way to Leavenworth.

Played 15mm FW last night, and I really came to appreciate that
scale. It gives a different feel and perspective to the game, but
yet I wasn't detracted by lack of table aesthetics. I have recently
ordered 2 15mm armies for Warrior, a Third Crusader from Mirliton,
and a Patrician Roman from Allain Touller. I also just purchased from
a friend on the right coast, a massive Nike Byzantine army in 15mm
already painted. That's not to say I'll give up on the 25mm scale,
but it renders those basing issues moot, plus gives me the old eagle
eye view. After all, my first gaming in miniatures was with 15mm
Napoleonics.

Thanks to Kelly Wilkinson for assisting my learning experience last
night. We had an enjoyable FW game between Sassanids and Late
Romans. I was the Late Roman player, and ultimately had to end up
wearing a Persian skirt, and learning Pharsee(sp.). Those Sassanids
are tough hombres.

Lastly, can this forum be used for other historical gaming topics,
such as "What color were the cloaks of the Varangian guards?",
or "Has anyone read The Devils Horsemen by Chambers?", or "Do you
guys like the new Foundry paints?". I'm okay if you want to keep it
Warrior specific, but it is also nice to glean the collective
intellectual capital from the group on other issues.

Dave

<<Lastly, can this forum be used for other historical gaming topics>>

From the moderator: resounding Yes! to *ancients/medievals* historical gaming -
figures, paints, research, terrain, modeling/painint techniques, etc.

When it comes to rules and lists though, need to stick to Warrior. :)

<<such as "What color were the cloaks of the Varangian guards?", >>

They were sissies.

<<or "Has anyone read The Devils Horsemen by Chambers?", >>

yep. Own it.

<<or "Do you guys like the new Foundry paints?".>>

Foundry rocks.

Jon
