Am I understanding your answer correctly? As long as the army list
has the options to buy elements of different orders on the same line
you can mix orders, or does there need to be a list rule?

Have fun!

Yep.

Brigans do it all the time. Funny, but I would think that down there in the
center of the medieval Warrior universe that this would be commonplace....lol

Thanks for the answer Jon ... it is probably going on down here and I
haven't gotten to see it. For whatever reason, lately in the
tournament down here, all I ever play is the out of town guys. I'm
playing Italian Condotta (until the beloved boys of Belisarius are
finished) these days and don't really have anything in my army that I
would want to do this with, even if they could.

Again, thanks for the answer!

But why would you do that?

My original question was generated by a local player. A mix of both close and
loose reg foot LB, close in the front and loose rear. If charged by mounted, no
waver test. If recoiled and disordered by cav, the close falls back through
the loose, making the loose the rank now in contact. Only one rank would fight
anyway, and the loose would take -1, not -2, for disorder in hth.

Not saying its a good option in this case, but it is an option.
