I'm working on moogs for someone else too ... lol

The best I have found is several offerings from Museum Miniatures, mixed
together to form nice looking scrub units.

www.militaryminiatures.net

Out of the Welsh line, you buy the spearmen and the bowmen (only use a few
bowmen). These are guys that have your generic looking medieval dress, complete
with only one shoe! Pin the spear guys with something akin to a JLS. For the
bow guys, remove the bow, drill out the hand and give him a throwing thingee.

There are some great peasants in the Peasant line armed with all kinds of stuff
that can be mixed in.

In the Medieval line, there is a really nice guy with a trowing axe that looks
good.

There are two guys in the Viking line that work well. One is a guy with JLS, Sh
and the other has a throwing axe.

The Personality line has two guys that have peasant weapons. One has a shield

Mix all this stuff together in units, give them a nice olive skin paint job and
dark scruffy hair and they make nice moogs!

You may have to add a few shields though, as you will not be able to find
shielded figures for guys that historically didn't have them. ~wink~

Sorry, couldn't resist!!!!!

Greg

We all know why Moogs got shields, Jon. ~wink~

Actually ... I was only T E A S I N G you ... and it really didn't need to go
any further. I fully support Scott's decision to make the performance fit the
reputation. I wish we would apply this same logic to other troop types that
seem to get no love at all from the lists, in spite of historical reputation.

I don't remember where I heard it, but remember a quote form an old-hat
gamer ... "If troops would have known that in 2000 years, they would have been
TOG figures, they would have altered weapons and armor accordingly."

At any rate, 'your welcome' for the thanks you gave on the suggestions for
troops.

Greg

Hey, Greg, do you ever lend out your time machine? I need to check out some
Brit Crusader tank markings from WW2 and since you seem to be able to go back
and personally witness and verify historical events (VERY cool ability) I was
wondering how much the rent would be? ;)

Nope, I got enough references to almughavars occasionally carrying shields -
thanks. lol

and how stirrups worked,
and how ranked units changed formation,
and on the effectiveness of German knights,
and the length of a Pict spear....

No, now that I think on it, we're all good - thanks for your *support*...

:)

Yeah, and their list rules too...

Despite our repartee, you have been a great help with the lists. And I am
taking your suggestions on the troops totally to heart. Well, at least the
ones I don't have to convert - got enough of that going on right now...lol

Thanks.

BTW - these museum figs still true 15's?

Jon ...

Museum figs are funny because they come in three sizes, one that is true 15mm,
one that are 18mm and some that are so big, they are almost small 25's. If you
look at the ones I posted on the egroup, those are almost all Museum figures of
the 18mm variety. The ones I suggested for moogs tend to be on the smallish
side, so should work fine for you.

Greg
