Wow. This set of armies amazes me. All those cav! Certainly rewarded
Chris' missile option, I guess; and Todd must have been pretty happy
also. I'm guessing that Dave M got one of the heavy foot (maybe two)
otherwise the camels should also have been having a field day. And no
knights - wow. [I will tactfully pass over Bill finishing 12 places
below the other Low...]

Ah well. I actually get to play some soon (thanks, Todd!) and maybe,
just maybe, imminent arrival of McNay junior will not prevent me from
making it back to Lancaster next year...

Rich Kroupa had Late Imperial Roman.

Kevin Santos and Ed Bernhard BOTH had Hsiung Nu.

In that case it was Dave Boor who was playing Japanese instead of Ed.

Ewan,

I started w/ a great draw, which was bad for Dave
Markowitz. Aztec vs. Midianite was not what Markowitz
wanted for an opening round. Dave did not do what I
have seen many do in the face of such odds - he
actually fought and fought hard. Dave tried to get
the matchups and make me take waiver tests (7 in all -
passed every one), but the shooting was too much for
the camels to take.

Dave could easily taken both of us out of the
tournament w/ hiding and skirmishing - he dropped his
gloves and came out swinging.

2nd round I faced Turnbull's Seleucids. Too much pike
and peltast. I got the Otomi on an elephant unit and
got a few brakes and shakes, but he was able to
overwhelm me w/ his pointy spears. Plus all those
waiver tests I passed vs. Dave were used up - I failed
5 or 6 out of 10)

3rd round I faced Derek's Indians - fastest game I
ever played. We were done before others had finished
bound 2. I fended off the elephants + otomi up 5's on
elephants makes them go away quickly. His quality
support troops (ireg D) did not pass (ala Chris
Damour) and away he went. Fun battle - very quick -
we were done in under 2 hours playing 8-10 bounds or
so.

Bill low used Mithradetic (sp?)

Tact be damned ... quality will out! And his name is Devin ... not Derek.

NB ... Phil Gardocki was running Anglo-Irish.
