I personally loved the ideas suggested for mutable events
rather than the typical kaiserschlact tourney!
Allow me to make another suggestion -- that there be
alternative objectives available too -- so that
progressively weaker armies can still have attainable
goals. For instance, a typical objective would be simply to
delay the large force: hold for a period of time before
withdrawing relatively intact. The larger force needing
then to either catch and kill a lot of the defenders or to
break thru to the other side in a big way.
Or a small highly mobile force be given the objective of
getting around a larger, slower force which is moving
between the smaller force and its base, etc. etc. etc.
Also, in such a sequence, how about a "confidence" factor.
I'd give this to the victors only -- a bump in morale checks
or commander effect for prior victories. I feel that this
would be enough while a negative adjustment might be lethal
to a gamer's fun.

I have enjoyed chess tournaments in the past -- my ticker
won't let me now. But also, I remember deliberately
suiciding at one WRG VI tourney in order to be able to go
have fun in some demo games that were going on --
These kinds of rules might have kept me at the table.

"Emperor," eh? Sounds intriguing. Try it before YOUR name
