Just my two cents ... perhaps Mr. Davis was playing WRG 7th back in the days before the interps were properly defined and tested, and many people around the country were using different ones. I know in my area at one time, we had players from one city using no interps, another city was using Noel Bugia, still another the NASAMW ... what a mess!
The last set of interps for the most part, removed all the "wiggle room" from the rules, other then those created by players just looking for some sort of unwritten advantage. You will never stop those players, and you can't blame a rules set for their existence.
Warrior starts on this foundation, a set of rules and interps that has been play tested so extensively that there is little margin for error. Given this, there will be little room in the new set for problems to arise.
As far as mille-measurements go, I guess we just don't have that problem in our area. We sort of do that thing where as a guy moves, he clearly states his intended range at the end of his move. With the normal 240 pin, this tends to work well. I remember well the horror of 6th Edition where one "smidge" could decide the whole game, but I really don't see that as a problem in Warrior.
Army lists ... well, that is scaring the hell out of most people I have talked to. Hopefully it is much worry about nothing. I seriously doubt we will see any Hutchby & Clark "super armies" out of Scott Holder and company!
All in all this project is a good one, and has strong support. Many people have put aside personal differences about how they "think" the game should be played to provide for the common good. Speaking personally, I still think 7th was a better game before we had all this "charging out of skirmish" and the latest thing, the "arms race", but these are small things when compared to what Warrior has to offer, a rules set that can give excellent simulations, that newer players can read and understand!
Take care ... Greg
