Howdy,

Just got the details of this finalized. Perhaps of interest to some folks here?

NASAMW Painting & Modeling Competition - 2004 NEW

Some people paint toy soldiers in order to play, others play in order to
have a reason to paint. We are all somewhere on this continuum. NASAMW
does an excellent job of promoting the playing aspect of the hobby. Now we
are going to promote the painting and modeling aspect of the hobby as well.
NASAMW, together with <http://www.lastsquare.com/>The Last Square, will be
sponsoring two painting and modeling competitions this year. General and
specific guidelines are:

1. All entrants must be NASAMW members.
2. Figures can be from any and all historical rule systems (however, no
sci-fi/fantasy) and be in any scale.
3. Cost to enter is free.
4. Figures are to be brought to the NASAMW table on Saturday morning before
9:00 a.m. and will remain on display until 7:00 p.m. There will be a little
paperwork to fill out (entrant's name and what historical army the figures
represent), but this can be done any time from 12:00 Thursday onward.
5. All painted figures and modeled scenes must be the work of the entrant.
I.e. entrants may not use figures painted by someone else.
6. Entries will be judged on a combination of painting and modeling skill
(including figure painting and modeling of bases) and historicity. Since no
one is an expert in all eras the judges will be aided by short written
statements regarding the historical quality of the entrant's work (part of
the paperwork in #4).

Two gift certificates are being provided by The Last Square as prizes for
the following:

Army Award
For best sub-part of an army. Entries must be 30-40 figures.

Camp/Baggage Award
For best camp mini-diorama scene. Entries must include whatever would at
least be the minimum amount of baggage as required by their rule system, or
in the range of 8+ figures. For example, the minimum in DBM is 4 stands of
baggage.

In addition Darrell Smith has donated 3 Osprey books this year to be given
as prizes in the following categories:

1. Best enemy of Rome in 15mm.
2. Best enemy of Rome in 25mm
3. Best Medieval European in any scale
