Dave, we are having a Warrior tourney on the 22nd and 23rd in the Dallas area if you could fly down. A lot of the guys who are very active on the group will be playing. Over all we are a very fun bunch and we'd love to have you come down.

Dave
There will be no semi-annual (or other) revisions.
NASAMW and WRG lists can be used until replaced by our own, which starts next
month.
I'm the rules author and I live 30 min. outside of KC. We need to get together.
There is also going to be a Warrior tourney in town Nov 10th.
Jon

Dave, Sorry you can't make it this month. We try to have two or three tourneys a year and will invite you to each one. Yes, I think most people have and play with 15 mm, however we are all putting 25 mm together and Many of our players in Dallas have 25 mm armies already. In fact that's what they play mostly. 25 mm is a whole different game from what I've seen, the close order troops get in the fight in this scale as opposed to 15 mm games in which they can if both players wish to. I'm looking forward to having my own 25 mm army soon. You might call a guy named Brain Thomas about the 15 mm armies, he has a company call Military Miniatures of Texas and the last time I spoke to him he had a few 15 mm armies for sale. phone # (281) 395-8902 Hey, I know Jon told you about a tourney in Nov. in your area, tell them to keep us up dated on the events so us Texans could make the trip sometime. Thanks David.

De-Cloaking for an introduction and a couple of questions.
I originally got interested in ancient gaming using WRG 5th edition
(yea, army lists!), but really played mostly WRG 6th, as it came out
shortly after my initial involvement. With the advent of 7th, my
gaming group unfortunately rejected it, en masse, and it eventually
splintered the group, while others moved away or found other
interests.
My interests in the last decade were oriented towards computer
gaming, but alas, I found myself missing the comradarie, the visual
aesthetics of miniatures, and the competition that I used to be
involved in (Norbert Gisclair, Twistercon, etc.).
Subsequently, I re-entered the ancient wargaming arena about a year
ago, due in large part to the new 'fun' set of rules called Warhammer
Ancient Battles. Although these games can be fun, that fun is mixed
with equal parts of frustration due to the oversimplification of many
battle mechanics, and the express intent of the rules writers to 'let
the players sort out the gray areas'. DBM (x) is not my cup of tea
(can't deal with Vikings and Romans getting lumped together as Blades
(O). Might be a good system, but just not for me. I have been a
member of this egroup for sometime and have downloaded the latest
version of Warrior (BTW, I appreciate the authors allowing this to be
done.). It certainly brings back to me all the terminology, and
mechanics that I am familiar with and enjoyed for so many years. I
am somewhat reticent, however, about getting too involved with a
system that is overly complex or requires a substantial amount of
bookkeeping, or is constantly going through semi-annual revisions.
With my introduction complete (sorry for taking you down memory
lane), I would like to play some games with Warrior. My questions
are; Will these rules be available for purchase in the near future,
and how well will they be supported? (One of the problems with WAB is
the authors do not support the system.) Are the NASAMW army lists in
the files the ones that will be used? (I seem to recall one of the
problems 7th edition had was with the army lists...and the various
iterations, and authors that they were available.) After playing
some games I will be able to intelligently offer my insights for the
group. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I'll put the details of our November tourney here as soon as they are
finalized.
For now: Fast Warrior, 15mm, Tabletop Game and Hobby, Lenexa (KC) Kansas Nove
10th.

Jon, I know you have a lot on your plate but maybe we little folks in fly over country should get together once a year for a tourney. Maybe we could alternate form year to year between Dallas and K. C. When you have some time we should talk more about this. David

Dave;
That's very kind of you, however I will be going to Phoenix for a
week and just getting back that weekend, so I probably won't be able
to make it. I currently own a 25mm Early German army (based for
WAB), which will have to be adjusted for the WRG basing conventions.
I am also looking into purchasing a 15mm army as it appears most
everyone games in 15mm (just guessing at this, however.) Perhaps I
can take a rain check and catch you at your next get-together.

With enough notice, I would love to come to Dallas to play Warrior.
I'll keep you posted of our tourneys. I will start having them every two
months beginning in November.

Jon, that's great!! We were planning a tourney in Nov. as well, maybe we should cancel and come to yours or maybe you guys could come here? I would love to have a major tourney in our part of the country one day. How many players do you think you all could get from your area, for there or that might come to Dallas? David

I'm sorry, David, I was mixing you up with another new guy who I thought was
here in the KC area.
We are having a Fast Warrior tourney in Nov. and we'd love to have you.
With enough lead time, I would come to a Dallas tourney but am already maxed out
through the middle of Nov. Maybe in the spring?

Dave:
What do you mean, "I would love to have a major tourney in our part of the country one day." The Republic of Texas National Warrior Tournament is held annually in Arlington, TX and draws people from all over the country. Maybe you need to talk to your Regional NASAMW Representative a little more often.
