Welcome Brinton.

The answer to your first question is yes.

<<Combined Units – I am interested in using a later crusader army

combined formation. I couldn't find it in the rule book (but I
could
easily be missing something) so I have no idea how that works. >>

Well, 'how it works' depends on how you build and form the unit. CB can
only shoot from the first and second ranks, so typically a player has a unit
with one rank of spear with a rank of CB behind. It defends better against a
charge than a pure CB unit would, but does not shoot as well as pure CB unit
would nor fight as well as an all-spear unit would.

<<2HCW and Shield – I was looking into the anglo-danish army and
the
Huscarls use some elements with 2HCW and shield. Does the shield
count for shooting and not in hand to hand because they are then
using the 2HCW or are they still counted as shielded even when
swinging big axes? >>

Basically. But note that on the first bound of a combat, if 2HCW is steady,
it counts shielded in hand to hand. This simulates the standoff effect of
the long weapon and that the two forces are not fully intermingled yet.

So I played my first and only game of warrior (fast warrior at that)
so far a couple months ago at the HMGS-PSW con (thanks to Bob
Parish) and since then have been looking into starting an army and
playing some more. I'm borrowing a force from Terry (who helped
out
a bunch during my first game as well) for the next HMGS-PSW con and
had some questions. I played WRG 6th or 7th once years ago so I am
coming at all of these rules very green and the system is very
complicated to me at this point. Excuse me if some of these are
obvious or stupid. These are just things that have come up as
I've
read.

Scythed Chariots – There is a combat line in the weapon factors
chart that covers Hrs of Scythed Chariots. Is this modifier used any
time the scythed chariot does its charge (as long as it charged 80
paces) and the horses (I assume the Hrs means Horses) are eligible
to fight?

Combined Units – I am interested in using a later crusader army
and
the books state that the foot crossbow and foot sergeants can be a
combined formation. I couldn't find it in the rule book (but I
could
easily be missing something) so I have no idea how that works.

2HCW and Shield – I was looking into the anglo-danish army and
the
Huscarls use some elements with 2HCW and shield. Does the shield
count for shooting and not in hand to hand because they are then
using the 2HCW or are they still counted as shielded even when
swinging big axes?

Thanks for any help,

Brinton
