I don't keep up on figure lines. In fact, I have one army, 25mm Aztecs, that I
can't identify the figure line. I *think* it's old Garrison but can't be sure.
Does anybody still make Garrison? Their really old stuff stank up the joint but
their later lines (before they went TU) were absolutely sweeeeet.
Taking this one step further, who currently has New World lines? This would
include Spanish. I know about Ral Partha (Iron Wind nowadays). I've seen
references to Tin Soldier and Naismith but haven't actually seen photos of any
of the figures by those companies
I'm not necessarily interested in the "best" sculpted figures which means all
the 28mm monsters out there don't appeal to me, mainly because I want the newer
figures to blend in with the older ones I have. I believe Dave Smith referenced
one such firm a while back.
Heh heh, and yes, I will have to remount some of my Aztecs for at least one list
concoction I've derived.

***Scott;
Foundry is recasting their older line of Aztecs (remaking the
moulds), and these are not the 'heroic' sized 28mm figures, but
rather the smaller first generation Foundry.
Check them out here.

I had an Aztec army, which in a fit of madness I sold at a past Historicon.
They were Naismith Design and Tin Soldier, both of which are still made if you
care to track them down through TMP. Doesn't Jake sell Tin Soldier? And I
think ND are made by Navwar. In adition Ral Partha has some Aztecs, available
cheap at Cold Wars from Iron Wiond.
And finally, Garrison molds have been aquired by Amazon Miniatures, and are now
available again. I am pretty sure Garrison made no Aztecs, though. The
Naismith are great 25mm figures with a kewl priest with "Xipe Topec" (Dear
Flayed One) suit. eeeeeew eeeeeew eeeeeew!
I remember going crosseyed painting the jaguar knights spots. Wish I could buy
them back.....
There was a series of articles in Slingshot on Aztecs which I used to do
warriors and shields. It's proably on the back issue CD from the SOA.

One other thing....
Naismith Design (NAVWAR) also did Conquistadors, Mayas and Incas.

I sold my unwanted children at a time when I did not love them, so I could buy
more children, Now I repent of this evil act. C'est la vie,
TMP is The Miniatures Page:
http://www.theminiaturespage.com/
It has the best ever page of links to manufacturers. I never give out URL's
because I can track down ANYBODY there. I just assume everyone has this
bookmarked. It's also a great page to waste time on at work. Follow the links
to "Manufacturers", and you get an alphabetical choice. Follow the yellow brick
road.
Frankly, Scott, I am shocked that you, as a Big Shot in TGWAG, is unaware of
this page.

Heh heh, I'm the straight man here:) I'll pick some up at CW. I still need
a pawltry number of LI slingers to round out the new army and I always like to
toss in something that's not from the same figure line just to be eclectic.
I've seen several Tin Soldier Aztec armies over the years. I saw some English
review on the 'net who sorta poo poohed the line but I was always impressed by
their "animation" (said English reviewer called them charicatures but I think
everybody should have one army of charicatures so why not Aztecs?).
Then gotta get all the Spanish so I can play some variation at 2000 points (or
as Jon pointed out, at 1600 points). I specced out a Spanish-led Tlaxcallan
army last night. Interesting mix, I mean you get the core of A Class Spanish
but then the Tlaxcallan's tend to be much more ordinary than their Aztec
counterparts. Should make for an interesting dynamic and look kewl in 25mm.
I'll probably try to nab some Naismith Spanish since that's what the bulk of my
army consists of. Iron Wind has resolutely refused to bring their Spanish
figures (old Ral Partha) to the shows. I emailed em asking them to please do so
this time. At Fall In last year, I was buying another round of
Anglo-Dane/Norman/Early Crusader stuff and from them and saw 4 guys come up
asking about the Spanish so maybe they'll get the hint. Of course that assumes
nobody is at Cold Wars with Naismith Spanish. I saw who "carries" them from TMP
(now bookmarked, would hate to have my "rep" ruined) but that didn't really help
me much. Any other suggestions for Spanish that are not 28mm?
>Assuming nothing comes up that hoses my plans to drive down to TwisterCon, I'll
definitely be bringing Aztecs.
