First please disgregard my answers in previous emails on this thread and stick
solely to this one. <sigh> :)

If a body armed with 2HCW is in contact and a new body (including a Roman unit
using the list rule that appears in some Fast Warrior lists) replaces the unit
in contact with the 2HCW-armed body, the 2HCW armed body is being charged by
that body and does not count shieldless, if steady, to any elements of the
replacer.

The relevant rules are 6.523 and 7.1, fifth bullet under exceptions.

The FW Roman list rule DOES NOT change any of 6.523 and 7.1. Its primary effect
in this case is to allow replacement without disordering the replacer - it is
still charging (with all that implies) for the purposes of 6.523 and 7.1.

Ok, now that I have eaten that crow, here's the explanation of what happened.
We at FHE are in the throes of work on New World Warrior. As some of those
lists represent militaries that relied on cycling in fresh troops, we are
playtesting a rule similar to the FW list rule for use in some NWW lists. While
we think we have it right, and the FW list rule is a good model, yours truly got
confused in answering a mainline rules question about 'subsequent bounds' and
'counting shielded'.

It looks at this time like the NWW list rule and the FW list rule will be
similar with respect to replacing in combat and that 6.523 handles most of that
- the difference being the lack of disorder to the troops trained to do it.

My bad - as they say. Broke my own rule about answering a question without the
rule in front of me.

Now, get back to work..

Jon
