Is it legal to put Irish nobility Irr B LMI in the frount rank of an
Irish bonnachts unit that is also LMI? I have heard that it was but
can't seem to find it in the rules. My son needs to know so he can
make plans to hide them in the woods.Smile Thanks, David.

The general guidelines on lists is that you can't mix troops on different
lines unless specified in the army lists, or if it's a knights/sergeants kinda
thing. I hate to say this but I don't recall offhand how I'm treating the
Irish in the two Norse Irish lists I'm currently working on. Terrible but I
should know this right off the top of my head considering I've spent most of
the last week working on those lists.

We have had some debate about this here in Dallas. It has been said that as
long
as two lines have similar line text, then they can enter mix. Example H&C List
124 Yuan Mongol, first line - "Chinese Gaurd, Reg B HI, 2HCT, SH" , next line -
"Chinese Guard Reg B HI, CB". We play that these two units can be combined.

In the case of the Irish, one line says "Irish Nobels", the next says "Irish
Bonnachts". We have said that these could intermix, can they not? We have
played
it that the "Irish Bonnachts" can't intermix with the "Gall Gael".

This issue would touch a lot of lists.

Thanks, Scott.Smile I can't recall the source but I thought that the nobles did occupy the front ranks of the Irish, Saxons, Viking and most other Dark Age armies, no? If I could find an acceptable source would that be of any help? David

>That is correct. I didn't finish my "guidance" earlier and should have added
that troops of the same name (not "similar" but "same") are *generally*
allowed to mix even if they occupy different lines on a list. Again, that'll
all be cleared up with Warrior lists.

In the case of the Irish, one line says "Irish Nobels", the next says "Irish
Bonnachts". We have said that these could intermix, can they not?

>Nope, they cannot. Different named troops. And having just reviewed the
draft Norse-Irish list I can safely say that they won't be mixing (unless in
rout) in the Warrior list:)Smile:)
