Can 1.5 ranks fight (if they can wedge) if they are armed with 2hcw 2hct,
i.e., does the weapon have to be one that is eligible to fight from a second
rank?

The ruling as I understand it, is that if an army list says that a troop
type can wedge then thay fight 1.5 ranks regardless of the weapon type
(this is the point of wedging in the first place as 2nd rank eligible
weapons dont need a wedge to fight). As the quad equine riders release
Warrior army lists this facet will be cleared up on an army by army
basis. I imagine armies that could previously wedge in 7.6 that lost
their 1.5 rank capability will have a list rule stating that they fight
1.5 ranks (assuming research shows that wedging was appropriate in the
first place).
