The clarification update I am about to publish has much in it about Orbs,
including the answers to your questions which I will summarize here in advance:

For CPF, count all the ranks of an orb as though facing front. The number of
figures that can shoot from any side of an orb is the same as the number that
can fight.

Can't tell, how deep in ranks is it?

Ok, four ranks and 32 figs. I guess then that it is two E wide. That would
make it worth 24 figs for CPF.

"Units in orb ALWAYS fight, and if it has shields counts shielded, in four
directions. "

Ed, I am in the middle of writing the clarification update that will carry us
through and past HCon this year.
For whatever reason, orbs seem popular. I can only believe that is because
they are being played 'incorrectly' since their utility is so limited. Smile
However, both of those questions are covered by the clarifications I am
writing, so I'd like to ask you to wait a day or so so I can get a single
comprehensive answer out.

And I know your question was theoretical and not in game, so I think you have
a couple days you can afford to wait on this...lol

Thanks for your patience.
Jon

One more if you could, in a mixed unit of shielded and unshielded troops,
like LTS,Sh & CB MI, in orb does the whole unit count as shielded or just
part, or?

Hi Jon,

A unit of 4 elements of shielded, close order inf with jls in Orb, 2
ranks wide and 2 ranks deep:

They are contacted in the front or "rear" by enemy 1 element wide. How
many of these inf fight?

If contacted in the "flank", how many fight ( I know, orb has no true
flanks or rear)?

Thanks,

Ed

theoretical.

Actually, I use it against LC heavy armies to act as mobile terrain and
one of the players here that likes inf armies keeps asking me questions
on it.

Your typical Warrior tournament has many fine orbs.

They don't shoot, or fight, or count shielded, but make the experience better
none the less.
