Dave,
I almost agree with the big E on the Thessalians but. . . Do
these guys fight 1.5 ranks? You will note that these troops will
perform equally as well as their lance armed counterparts and
contemporaries with most non lancer cav of he same ilk (HC) and most
foot which brings up an entirely new can of worms. . .! If Nasamw
would seperate tournaments between Ancient Warfare and Medieval
warfare as Terry Gore does your Thessalians could perhaps skirmish
away from cataphracts and the like(which are very slow). They are
still bait for other cavalry types, but I suspect that you are a
savvy enough player to keep them away from that kind of trouble.
About the Thracians, either lose them and get Theurophoroi or get rid
of the 2HCW. The problem with these guys is their moral is "C" and if
they are uneasy because of Elephants, chariots, charging super
heavies, etc. . . they will not be impetuous and will die most
likely in the first bound and definitely in the second when they are
shieldless. One way I've seen the 2hcw ran is one rank of 2hcw,jls,sh
and two ranks of JLS,Sh. This way, if you lose, you can drop back
your shieldless 2 handed cutters behind the 2nd and 3rd ranks and not
be punished as badly for being shieldless in the next bound. I
usually prefer to use the jls, sh version when using these guys. Once
again, if you could have a Personal Army Standard, You could most
always make them impetuous but that is not the case here. By the way,
if you like the "D" morale troops with pike, you may consider the
Ptolemaic list. The list is very similar with better elephants and
the Reg D pike is much more numerous and better than the LTS. Also
Lose the big units. 16 figure Pike gives you much more flexibility.
If you won't listen to me, listen the Big E, Next to Tim Brown, he's
one of the best players in the game! LOL! Smile;0 Wink! Well, good luck
with your games!

Kelly
