At this time, we plan to include 4 color pages in the new rulebook. I'd like
to feature Warrior armies. Here's the deal.
1. General rules for FHE contests are in the files section.
2. Photos we need will have the following characteristics:
300dpi resolution or better. .jpg or .tif only.
'Normal size' - meaning something like 4"x5" or 4"x6" when printed out at the
resolution they were taken. No murals and no 2"x2" photos.
Professional looking background (sky, etc.) - no 'rest of room', friend's
back, figure case, con or tourney background, etc.
Well-painted figures with professional-looking terrain. No felt, plain/mixed
basing, plain groundcloth, etc. No dice, sticks, coffee ups, etc. See any
Games Workshop product or Flames of War.
Figures in battle will have an advantage over a static display.
Historical opponents/combinations only in each photo.
3. Selected photos will go in the rulesbook. Unselected ones will either be
placed on our website (with names) or possibly saved for another product.
Published photos will include credits in the product and a free copy of the
product for figure owner/artist and photographer.
4. You can send as many photos as you like. Each must include name of
army/figures, owner, artist(s), photographer and description/manufacturer of the
figs. We aren't going to limit the periods up front, but we would like to try
and get one photo for each list book. This means multiple photos of the same
army are less likely to produce a winner (or multiple winners) than a set of
great photos across the list books.
You can start submitting any time. I don't have a cut off date yet, but will
as I get closer to done. Probably August or so...
Let slip the cameras of war...

Doesn't Photoshop ".ps" format give better characteristics for final
tweaking by the printer?

Are you looking for an overview of a battlefield or melee to show the
relative positions of the units involved, or closer shots focusing on
the paint jobs?
Assuming the photos will be oriented "portrait" on 8.5" paper, you
could probably do 8" wide. Which would allow 8x5, which could
capture a high angle shot of a whole 25mm table.
