Hi,

In general im keeping out of this pike/armour debate. I tend to agree with
FHE on this healthy debate. A few list addendum to allow some armour upgrades
at cost may solve most of these issues and/or maybe even say for example "if
fighting enemy pre 500ad (or whatever) may upgrade to EHI at x points" etc.
That sort of thing may work without too much effort.

But

bearing in mind my main army is a seleucid one

i have noticed that pikes in six ranks have an advantage over pikes in four
ranks at turning when contacted to the flank if they are the end unit of the
line

pikes in four cannot turn as there is not the room whereas those in 6 or 8
or 12 can.

i am not sure if this should be right or wrong - it is just an observation
based on base depths/widths that would not be true if the depth of four pike
elements equalled the width of one. an overhang from TOG i guess.

keep up the good work FHE
and keep up the debating everyone else
even the dead horse debates are good for newbs - they are informative - i
cannot image anyone trawling through all the old posts

merry christmas
